Will God’s purpose be accomplished under Trump?

While many evangelicals came out in support of the president-elect, many others warned against his arguably unchristian comments on women and attacks on critics. One thing Christians can agree upon is . . . [Continue reading]

The Un-Tied States of America

The recent election results have revealed just how divided are the “United” States of America. Commentators, pundits and leaders are searching for reasons to explain the deep racial, gender, ideological and political divides.

I blame the Internet. Let me explain before I cause even more division. With the WWW, consumers no longer have to listen to differing viewpoints. [Continue reading]

Christians to pray for leaders with whom they disagree

Whether you voted for Donald Trump or someone else (I voted for Constitution candidate, Darrell Castle ), we are urged to pray for “all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (1 Timonthy 2:2). [Continue reading]

To angry voters . . .

Protestors are already gathering to protest mean-spirited comments of the president-elect—with their own mean-spirited comments. (Irony alert!) There’s a more constructive way to address issues of disagreement. [Continue reading]

On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. The date corresponded to January 22, 1973, when the United States Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand in all 50 states. I wish he wouldn’t have limited the day to simply the unborn in the United States. So, here’s my Lives matter issue:

Right to life: womb to tomb

Every human being everywhere has a right to life from womb to tomb. Here are my favorite columns on:
Is it a life or a choice?
Ethuanasia and dying with dignity
Capital punishment: serious questions
Pro-life from womb to tomb

Right to equality

St. Paul wrote, “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Here are columns that explore equality:

Am I a “feminist”? Yes and no! Gender equality is complicated!
James Watkins: ex-slave, author, soul brother I’m proud to call this social reformer family!
Martin Luther King Jr’s ten commandments for cultural change
Race relations by the numbers A cover story I wrote after a summer of racial unrest and violence
Top ten signs your church may be prejudiced
What was St. Paul thinking when he wrote “Women must be silent”?!
