The author is a native Houstonian, who has practiced medical surgical nursing in the Texas Medical Center for 27 years. Now an assistant professor of nursing, she holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Texas Woman’s University, a master of science in nursing and healthcare education from the University of Phoenix, and certification in medical-surgical nursing from the American Nurse Credentialing center. She taught in the First Place program at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church and now teaches diabetes management to congregants at Crossroads Community Church.
